Nick Sahlqvist began his career in the union movement as Project Officer – Industrial Services for the Independent Education Union – Queensland and Northern Territory (IEU-QNT) in July 2006.

After moving to the UK in 2009, Nick became the National Officer with the FDA, the union for the Senior Civil Service. Returning to Australia, Nick took on an Organiser role with the IEU VICTAS Branch and later became responsible for co-ordinating bargaining across independent schools. He was appointed as Assistant Secretary of the IEU VICTAS Branch in 2021.

In 2022, Nick returned to Queensland and the IEU-QNT, taking on the role of Industrial Officer, providing direction to our union’s expert industrial team and coordinating bargaining in the Anglican sector. Nick was appointed as an Assistant Secretary of the IEU-QNT in July 2024.
